History

The White Horse was opened as a beer house by James Simmonds, a foreman at the local cloth mill, around 1870. He had been given the building by his father almost 20 years earlier, but had extended it considerably by the time he opened the pub. The White Horse received a full licence in 1949.

Good Beer?

We have 4 beer engines here at the horse with Doom Bar (4%) and Otter Ale (4.5%) as the house standards with the other two engines used for guest beers.
